"He who conquers himself is the mightiest warrior"-Confucius
Feelings of hopelessness, anxiety and fear can become paralyzing, leaving us feeling overwhelmed and stuck. It's easy to resort to unhealthy thoughts and behaviors to cope with life's endless challenges. Are you drowning in the should haves and what ifs? Are you having the same argument over and over with your partner? Are you using drugs, alcohol, shopping or food to avoid your fears and emotions?
I am a Licensed Professional Counselor in the State of Texas who provides services to individuals, couples and families. I work with clients preteen and up who are looking for help managing anxiety, depression, trauma and PTSD, addiction, codependency, stress management, sleep disorders, work/life balance, relationship challenges and life transitions. I also specializes in working with Veterans, first responders and their families.
I have over 25 years of experience in the health and human services field. For the last ten years, I have worked for the Texas Health and Human Services Commission serving individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities and serious mental illness within a variety of roles. I also have experience working in private and group practice, community and educational settings, psychiatric facilities, hospitals and residential facilities.
I'm a holistic therapist who believes that counseling is only one of many tools used to help find balance and achieve optimal emotional and physical wellness. I use an integrative approach, based on the unique needs of each client. I may incorporate elements of a variety of counseling approaches such as mindfulness-based, solution-focused, narrative, motivational interviewing, and cognitive behavioral therapy. My counseling style is warm and authentic, yet direct. I strive to create a safe, welcoming space where anyone can feel free to express themselves without fear of judgment.
